The Le Bon Climat vineyard was planted in 1997 and 2006 marks its 7th year bearing fruit. In my opinion, 2006 was its best yet with low yields and intense concentration. The wine spent 15 months in 100% French oak barrels, 33% new. The color is brick red, though bright like a rose petal. Rose petal creeps into the nose of this delicious wine, and it really does smell of great Burgundy. I also get violets, red berry jam, strawberry, cooked prunes, pancake syrup, perfume, soy sauce and mushrooms, vanilla and sweet oak. On the palate, this balanced wine yields flavors of forest floor, wet earth, mushrooms, minerality, stewed red fruits, and velvety tannin. The wine has a backbone of refreshing acidity, and finishes with spice including cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and vanilla. 68 Cases produced Other Current Wines
